Increase Safety with H2S Gas Detection

In the industry, personnel safety is paramount. Many industries have gases as part of their day-to-day operations that are deadly to the people working around the facility. You need to measure and detect that gas when it’s not where it’s supposed to be. Fixed gas detection is installed in places where gas could be present. There are many gas types, but I’m going to limit the following to H2S gas.

H2S gas is a deadly gas and there are many deaths from it every year. Any place that people could be working and also has the potential to see this gas needs a detector. H2S detectors should be mounted low to the floor because it is heavier than air and tends to sink. Most sensors should be calibrated every 6 months. The more had they are exposed to, the more often they need to be calibrated. Sensors should be connected to visual and audible alarms that can be seen and heard by personnel before entering the room and notify those already in the room to vacate the area. Many facilities use a third party to perform these calibrations to ensure they are done and done properly.
